Away trip to Merton RFC - Saturday 27th September
The 1st XV are on the road again, this time taking on Merton RFC in the 2nd round of the National Junior Vase. The coach will be leaving the club at 12.30pm on Saturday and there's room for some spectators to travel with the squad. It would be great to get some support on the sidelines as the 2nds don't have a game arranged!

There is a rumour there will be some beers FOR THE RETURN JOURNEY! Obviously, spectators can start when they like - and, no, subs do NOT count as spectators!!

Anyone wishing to book a seat on the coach should contact Dominic Clare to arrange. There will be a small charge - probably £3 - to travel on the coach but I'm sure everyone would agree it's well worth it.

AGM - Sunday 29th June, 10.30am
Thanks to everyone who made the effort to turn up on a Sunday morning for the AGM. The attendance was excellent and lots of very positive ideas were put forward. The committee for the following season will comprise the following:

President: Kevin (Harry) Day
Chairman: Paul Britton
Hon. Secretary: Leigh Compton/Jane Edwards (NEW)
Hon. Treasurer: Rob Pankhurst (NEW)
1st XV Captain: Dominic Clare
Fixtures Secretary/Buildings & Sites: Jon Edwards
Membership Secretary: Tim Spear
Entertainments Secretary: Tom Spear

Steve Ashby was confirmed as Club Coach for the coming season and Steve Rawlins continues as 2nd XV Captain.

It was agreed to form a Playing Sub-Committee to look at issues such as rewards for players, improvements to rugby facilities and any other issues of concern that may affect the playing side of the club. This will initially comprise Steve Ashby, Dominic Clare, Steve Rawlins and Tom Spear, with additional members from the 1st and 2nd team squads to be added shortly. The first priority will be to sort out some stash for players so get to training and start earning some free stuff!
Annual Dinner
As always the Annual Dinner & Dance was a huge success thanks to the hard work of Tim Spear among others. The band Riff Raff were well received and most people managed to keep most of their clothing on for most of the night, which is a distinct improvement (depending on your point of view) on last year.

The awards were well deserved and the winners were:

President's Award: Garry Rickwood
Chairman's Award: Dominic Clare
1st XV Player of the Year: Danny Cowin
1st XV Players' Player: Lee Reed
2nd XV Player of the Year: Stewart Rapp
2nd XV Players' Player: John Flood
Coach's Award: Gary Booth
Most Improved Player: Nick Byworth
Young Player of the Year: Kieran Reed
Top Try Scorer: Sam Onabajo
Top Points Scorer: Dominic Clare
P*** Artist of the Year: Gary Booth
Tour Animal: Andy Gibson
