The Youth Section

The Youth Section at Orpington RFC is young and growing all the time. With 60+ child members and 20+ qualified coaches, the future looks bright.

Youth rugby is split into three main sections, and the game gets progressively more like the full adult game that everyone watches on television. The game starts with minis and that is the age groups under 7 to under 12. The midi game then becomes the under 13's through to the youth game of under 17. After under 17 clubs can have a colts team, which integrates the Youth players into the Adult game.

Youth rugby is the future of the game and Orpington are no exception to the fact that everyone needs new blood coming into the game. What better way to feed Senior teams than with youth members who have trained and played at the club from a young age?

The Youth meet every Sunday from 10:30am until 12:00 midday, generally training, hosting other teams at our ground or attending other clubs for games. Most Sundays see at least 60 children from the age of 6 upwards playing rugby in all weathers and running around enjoying themselves.

After games or training the club provides a drink and a snack, allowing the child to enjoy the rugby experience in the comfort of the clubhouse after their physical exertion on the pitch.
